Culture House Visitor Admissions Policy
Welcome to Culture House, Culture House preserves and showcases tangible and intangible Somali heritage in the form of artefacts and cultural pieces, oral recordings and videos.
Before visiting please download our visitor admissions policy to understand the expected standards at Culture House that all visitors must follow.
We welcome you to enjoy your visit at Culture House and respectfully ask you to follow the visitor admissions policy outlined below as well as follow the directions of
our staff. They have been designed to protect all visitors during their time at Culture House and to ensure the preservation of the precious artefacts on display.
1. Opening Hours
We are open Opening hours
Wednesday – Friday: 12:00pm – 8:00pm
Saturday: 10:00am – 8:00pm
Sunday – Tuesday & Bank Holidays: Closed
2. Admission
Admission is free to see the collection, but we reserve the right to turn visitors away if we reach maximum capacity, please book in advance to avoid disappointment.
We will have paid ticketed events throughout the year; please ensure you check you have the correct ticket to be admitted into such events.
3. Health and Safety and Security
Visitors must stick to areas where our staff are supervising and obey all signs, instructions and notices given by staff – Staff can be identified by identity
badges as well as Culture House t-shirts. Visitors must obey normal health and safety practices in Culture House, we reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone we deem a health, safety and security risk to other visitors.
Visitors must not cross any barriers, touch objects without express permission or access staff only areas for the protection of the Culture House collection.
Culture House reserves the right to search the content of bags at points of entry to events. This is to ensure the safety of all visitors to Culture House. Fire safety protocols must be followed at all times, if the fire system is activated you must follow the instructions of our staff to safely evacuate the building immediately.
4. Expected noise levels
Due to the presence of residential flats above Culture House, we expect visitors to stay at a moderate noise level. Culture House does have soundproofing measures in place but we also need the cooperation of visitors to ensure the local area is undisturbed.
5. Photography and Filming
Feel free to take pictures for personal use, Culture House does not allow photography or filming for commercial purposes. In some cases there may be an exception whereby a sign may be present stating photography and filming is not allowed. In such cases, please follow these guidelines.
6. Food and Drink
Food and drinks cannot be consumed at Culture House due to the fragile and sensitive nature of the objects and exhibitions on display.
7. Lost belongings
Please ensure you keep track of all your belongings as Culture House is not responsible for any item that goes missing, is damaged or stolen whilst you are on the premises. If you do lose a belonging, let a member of staff know to check the Lost and Found. We do not accept responsibility for any lost items
that we remove or destroy.
8. Animals
Animals/Pets are not allowed in Culture House, Service animals such as ‘Seeing Eye’ dogs are exempt.
